Polyacrylamide
Dryers and coolers from GEA Barr-Rosin are used for the controlled removal of surface and bound moisture in powder, crystalline and granular materials by gently drying or cooling over controlled residence time.
Polymers
GEA Niro's fluid bed systems are used for drying and cooling a wide range of polymer materials. These heat sensitive materials require precise control of residence time and temperature. Process safety systems are carefully designed for personnel, plant, and environmental protection.
Dyestuffs
The FSD™ (Fluidized Spray Dryer) is one of the most successful dryer designs ever developed, combining spray drying technology with an integrated fluid bed. Many thermoplastic and hygroscopic products unsuitable for conventional dyer designs can be processed trouble free in the FSD™. The concept maximizes energy efficiency, as well as producing a superior powder, free flowing and dust free with excellent dissolution properties.
Hardmetals
The application of closed cycle spray dryers in hard metal powder manufacture has been an area of unique GEA Niro development. Today, the majority of the world’s hard metal powders are processed resulting from this development. The spray drying in a closed cycle spray dryer takes place in an inert nitrogen atmosphere to prevent oxidation degradation of the hard metal powder, for safety, environmental protection and solvent recovery reasons. All closed cycle spray dryers for production of hard metal powders are pre-erected and pressure tested before shipment. The powder production capacities range from 60-600 kg/h.
Chemicals
Steam jet cooling systems are used to cool water or watery solutions down to the formation of ice, for capacity ranges from 10 kW up to approx. 20,000 kW. Instead of high-value electricity, low-pressure steam (waste steam) can be used for the operation.
