2011-06 Swedspan Polska, a company belonging to the IKEA group, inaugurated one of the most modern production facilities for UT HDF boards in the presence of high-ranking Polish politicians and of the responsible representatives of IKEA.
The factory was realized in less than one year's time by suppliers who are technology leaders in Europe. The plant meets all requirements of IKEA with regard to sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
To achieve these ambitious goals; a single-effect falling film evaporation plant with mechanical vapour recompression by GEA Wiegand has been integrated into the production plant. This evaporation plant concentrates all waste water occurring during production and allows the re-use of the condensates as process steam. In this way, closed circuits can be installed so that the factory is operated without producing waste water.
The plant is operated under vacuum and therefore, it is nearly insusceptible to dirt which ensures a long lifetime between the cleaning cycles and which significantly reduces the consumption of cleaning agents. The concentrate which is discharged from the plant is incinerated and also used for energy recovery.
GEA Wiegand evaporation plants with mechanical vapour recompressor stand out for extremely low energy consumption values which are in part significantly below the consumption values of comparable plants.
GEA Wiegand is a company of GEA Group AG in the Process Engineering Segment and is active in the six fields of evaporation, distillation, filtration, jet pumps, vacuum systems and scrubbing system with the design and the construction of plants, mainly in the food industries, the chemical and petrochemical industry and the environmental sector.
